Last night I was lucky enough to join 105 other foodies for Gregg Wallace’s first event at his Wallace and Co restaurant in Putney. This Spring Vegetable Extravaganza was an exclusive event promising a truly fabulous night for Masterchef fans or ‘Veg Talk’ lovers. I’m pretty much both of those so I certainly wasn’t going to miss this night! The event included a 4 course vegetable inspired menu with a Masterchef Q&A and talks from Gregg about the produce being served. The tickets were advertised on the ingenious website that is www.frenzie.co.uk for an absolute steal at £30. Despite the advertised content I think me and everyone else, including the veg guru himself, got a lot more out of it. Gregg was an excellent host and wandered around chatting to guests, pouring wine and even doing pop quiz questions with prizes!
Most of the produce served at Wallace and Co is grown at Secrett’s Farm in Surrey which concentrates on cultivating its veg varieties for flavour and not for cosmetic appearance or shipping qualities. Knowing this, I knew the food was going to be exceptionally tasty - and I certainly was not disappointed on the night. This is the second time I've been to Wallace and Co, the first time I went for tea and cake and had an absolutely to-die-for pud so I was really looking forward to the menu for the event!
