The adventures of The Little Welsh eating her way around the culinary delights of The Big World
L'Autre Pied...Have A Sandwich Before You Go...
I saw a fantastic deal on lastminute.com for a five course meal at L'Autre Pied, a central London one michelin starred French restaurant, all for £21 per person! Ummmmm can you say BARGAIN?! I jumped at this chance and booked a table for two for lunch on a sunny saturday afternoon.
Dragons Found In Elephant And Castle...Dragon Castle!
I'm always on the hunt for new Dim Sum places and I've been curious about branching out of Chinatown for some time now. I like the restaurants in Chinatown but I've been to most of them several times now so I'm looking for a change of scenery really. The first attempt was at Yum Cha in Camden and this proved successful. The second attempt was at Dragon Castle in Elephant and Castle recommended by Lizzie of Hollowlegs. Dragon Castle was good, great location for all us Sarf Landaners and the same standard as most decent Chinatown restaurants.
Make Mine A Matcha!...#matchamadness
This month is #matchamadness, a month dedicated to all things matcha! This month of celebration was declared by the lovely and matcha-obsessed Catty who has dedicated many a blog post to the tasty green tea powder! Miss Catty has invited everyone to write a blog post for a matcha inspired recipe and this here post be mine!
For my entry for #matchamadness I decided to go fusion! I'm fusing matcha with a favourite dessert of mine, crème brulée. I *LOVE* crème brulée, sweet, creamy, custardy crème brulée...dreamy! And since my first proper experience with matcha, which was a very delicious matcha macaroon I tried at Lanka cafe in Primrose Hill, I've desperately tried to get my hands on as much of the stuff as possible! So I figured why not combine two very perfect flavours and hey presto matcha crème brulée!

Getting My Dim Sum Fix At Yum Cha, Camden...
If like me you need to eat Dim Sum frequently to feel 'human' again then you'll understand/sympathise that you can't always make it to Chinatown...Hey presto it's Yum Cha in Camden Town! You'll find Yum Cha far away from the lantern lined streets of Chinatown (well a few tube stops away but who's counting!) which is very convenient for the likes of me as its my daily stomping ground. Yum Cha, which for all those whities out there *ahem* means "drink tea" and involves eating Dim Sum, small portions of various types of Cantonese foods. The Man and I can go for about two weeks maximum before we need to get a Dim Sum fix. The Man, being a British-born-Chinese, needs a Dim Sum fix for obvious reasons whereas me, being as vanilla as they get am just obssessed with the stuff. Can't helps it.
So if you find yourself craving those sweet char siu bao or eggy dan ta and you happen to be far from Chinatown then check out Yum Cha!
The Man and I were getting our Dim Sum fix on before heading over to the Chin Chin Lab launch party so didn't want to fill up too much due to the copius amounts of ice-cream we were planning on eating. Nevertheless we did order a fair amount - as always...

Fried noodles with seafood. Does what it says on the tin. Not huge amounts of flavour in the sauce but the noodles were nice and crunchy and we got a pretty decent amount of scallops - which I always count because, top tip - restaurant's like to skimp on scallops!
I'm In Love...With The Chin Chin Lab!
There once was a girl who loved icecream. She ate gelato. She ate Hagen-Daaz. She'd tried every flavour of Ben and Jerry's, heck she'd even had her fair share of 99s with a flake. That girl was me. What I had never eaten before though was Nitrogen Ice Cream...
Nitrogen Ice Cream - it's chilly stuff!
Do You Want Fries With That?...Happy 4th of July Y'all...
History rocks doesn't it? I especially adore one particular country's history...that's right, the ol' U.S of A. I'm not American (hence 'The Little Welsh') nor do I have any contact/links/relations in the States. I'm just a nerd with a passion for American history...so much so that I even did a degree in it...true story! American history is littered with all sorts of interesting and mind-boggling events like Prohibition, Thanksgiving, the Vietnam War, the Flappers, the JFK assassination, The Cold War, moonwalking, Obama, 24...and most importantly to our Yankee friends - Independence Day.
Yes I actually made this mini flag things too...that's dedication people!
What Are You Having For Breakfast?
I LOVE breakfast. Breakfasts on the weekends are the best because you can have whatever you want at whatever time you want. Breakfasts at work can be equally as great but let's not lie...they're not really are they - they're more 'convenient' and quick. So since I love breakfast so much I thought I'd put a little post together of a few of my breakfasts over the past few weeks - at work and on weekends.
This is my usual at-the-desk work breakfast
Going Greek At Lemonia...
I've heard Lemonia in Primrose Hill is one of the best Greek restaurants in London...how convenient that it's very close to my office...The girls and I had to investigate this so called Greek food paradise. Needless to say - we all left in agreement with Lemonia's claim to fame!
Something Fishy's Going On At Billingsgate Fish Market...
It's 4.30am...on a Thursday morning...I'm awake and drinking coffee. Why am I awake you might be asking? Why am I awake at this ungodly hour and I'm also on annual leave...wtf? Well let me tell you fine people why - I'm going to Billingsgate Fish Market.
